Neurodiversity at GovCamp Cymru: the NuroCove and communication preference stickers

We’re thrilled to welcome the NuroCove to GovCamp Cymru again this year - our calm, neuro-affirming space created by the brilliant Nurologik team.

Huge thanks to Alex Kegie, Founder of Nurologik. She doesn’t just bring the NuroCove to life - she’s a valued part of our organising crew, passionately guiding us to make GovCamp Cymru more welcoming, inclusive and accessible every single year.

What is the NuroCove?

The NuroCove isn’t just a quiet room.

It’s a thoughtfully designed, sensory-friendly space where anyone can take a break, reset and feel grounded - no explanations needed.

The room is hosted by trained NuroCove hosts with expertise in:

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Neurodivergent Mental Health First Aid

  • Safeguarding best practice

They’re there to listen, support and help if things feel overwhelming at any point.

Communication preference stickers

Nurologik have introduced a set of four bilingual communication preference stickers to help everyone connect in a way that feels comfortable.

They’re designed for people who:

  • do not wish to talk right now, or may find speaking difficult

  • prefer to talk only with people they already know

  • would like to talk, but find it difficult to initiate a conversation

  • are happy to talk with anyone

That third option matters. For many people with social anxiety or autism, starting a conversation can be the hardest part. With this visual cue, others can confidently take the lead - helping more people feel included and able to participate.

Everyone will be offered a full set and you can switch whenever you need to throughout the day.

Please respect people’s choices. These stickers protect comfort and boundaries. If someone indicates they don’t want a conversation, that boundary is final - no questions, no pressure.

We’re proud that GovCamp Cymru continues to lead the way in building events where everyone can take part, contribute and feel they belong.

Experience the NuroCove at GovCamp Cymru

On the day follow the signs or ask a camp maker (the people in the green t-shirts) for directions to the Neurocove.
