Campmakers: making GovCamp Cymru possible
GovCamp Cymru is organised by a small core team of volunteers. We fit the planning around busy day jobs, families and everything else life brings.
Months of preparation go into securing the venue, working with sponsors, organising logistics and making sure the essentials are covered. Meet our team of core camp makers!
We work within a tight budget, so we make deliberate choices about what we prioritise:
accessibility and inclusion
clear, practical communications
a website that gives attendees the right information
a structure that helps everyone participate
food and drink to keep people going through a full day
and an evening venue - because useful conversations rarely stop at 5pm
On-the-day support
When the event begins, a wider group of Campmakers help keep everything running smoothly. You’ll spot them in green GovCamp Cymru T-shirts this year:
ready to welcome you
answer questions
guide pitching
update the agenda grid
support sessions across the venue
This year we’re also fortunate to have extra support from colleagues in the Welsh Government, helping us make the day as seamless and inclusive as possible.
We’d also like to give a special thanks to Josh and Mike from CDPS. Josh is our official photographer on the day and he has also supported us in the lead-up with graphics and visual materials.
Why campmakers matter
Volunteering at a busy, fast-moving event isn’t always simple. Plans evolve, technology can misbehave, and people often need help at short notice.
Campmakers provide practical support and ensure the event stays welcoming, organised and focused on the purpose of GovCamp Cymru - bringing people together to share ideas and explore how we improve public services in Wales.
Looking ahead
Every year we learn something new, and every year the event is shaped by the people who step forward to help. If you’d like to be involved as a Campmaker or sponsor in future GovCamp Cymru events, we’d love to hear from you.
Get in touch with the organising team through our website or social channels - we’re always open to new hands, new ideas and new conversations.
Thank you
To our core organising team, our on-the-day Camp Makers, and Welsh Government colleagues supporting us this year - thank you.
Your time, effort and commitment make GovCamp Cymru possible.
We couldn’t do it without you.
