Our organising team

Our organising crew are all volunteers, who work on GovCampCymru planning work around their busy day jobs!

    Jo Carter

    Jo runs ServiceWorks, where she teaches service design to people working in government and the third sector. 

    She is lead organiser of GovCamp Cymru and is passionate about communities and creating change in public services.

    She lives in Cardiff with her husband and teenage girls, and in her spare time you’ll find her playing drums and cycling, though rarely both at once!

  • Ady

    Ady Coles

    Ady is an independent, fractional leader across strategy, operations and delivery, and has worked extensively in GovTech and on government transformation programmes. 

    Ady has been involved with GovCamp Cymru since the start - originally, volunteering, and more recently, as an organiser.

    He lives near Bristol with his partner and teenage son, and spends his free time writing about writing & creativity, whilst trying to finish his next book of poetry.

    Philip Rookyard

    Phil works for Natural Resources Wales; he is a content designer in the digital team. Although it’s busy, no two days are the same. Phil works with a brilliant manager and such a lovely team.

    Phil volunteered for GovCamp Cymru as he loves organising things and wants to see better public services using more digital technology.

    He lives in Cardiff with his partner, Andrew. In his spare time Phil spends a lot of time in the gym keeping fit.

    Heledd Quaeck

    Heledd works for Natural Resources Wales, where she leads a team to improve content and services for the people that need them, and reduce organisational burden. She’s a member of the CDPS advisory panel since early 2020.

    She started volunteering for GovCamp in 2024 because she wants to help bring together those passionate about transforming public services in Wales. 

    She is a qualified lowland leader to take groups walking and exploring in Bethesda, where she lives with her husband and cat.

    Mark Sabine

    Mark is passionate about people and the environment.  As a Senior Specialist Advisor at Natural Resources Wales he leads on talent management, placements and runs the corporate induction programme.

    He participated in Jo’s Service Design In Practice course and attended GovCamp Cymru 2023 as a participant, loved it, and joined the team to help organise this year’s event.  “It was amazing to be among people who share my passion for service design and public services—it felt like finding my tribe!”

    Mark lives near Mumbles in Swansea.  He loves being outdoors with his family.  He’s an avid mountain biker.  He also enjoys walking, surfing, coasteering and traveling in his campervan.  He especially enjoys winter trips to Scandinavia for the snowy landscapes.

    Katie Driver

    Katie runs Thinking Alliance, where she helps people work out how to think better for themselves and with other people so they can make better progress on the work that matters. She also helps deliver Jo Carter’s Service Design in Practice Programme.

    Katie used to be a UK Civil Servant and remains deeply committed to improving public and third sector services. She volunteered for GovCamp Cymru because she knows the magic happens when people get together, but that doesn’t happen by itself!

    Katie lives in London with her husband and sons and spends her spare time running long distances.

  • Meilys yn gwenu

    Meilys Smith

    Meilys works part time for IMPACT, supporting improvements and research in the field of care for adults. She also owns Cwmni Melin ref. The company supports organisations and communities to offer services that meet people's requirements in the best possible way.

    Meilys lives near Caernarfon, where she also raises three teenage children. The family enjoys the opportunity to live and relax through the medium of Welsh and making the most of the beauty and special natural resources of the area.

    Meilys has attended Govcamp Cymru in the past and found the opportunities to network and learn from others inspirational. This is why she decided to join the team of volunteers in 2025, as a way of enabling the organisers to continue the good work.

    Omotara Kudehinbu

    Tara is an IT Ops Generalist. Passionate about digital technology and how it has been harnessed to make lives and processes easier and faster.

    Tara is a volunteer at GovCamp Cymru because she loves to make things work, organize events and desires to make a difference especially when it pertains to making public service in Wales better and enjoyable.

    She lives in Newport with her family. In her spare time she loves to make memories with her family, cook and work-out.

    Mike is an experienced communications, events, PR and marketing professional with a background across the private, public and third sectors. He’s currently Communications Manager at the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS), where he leads on the organisation’s external events - from webinars and networking events to national conferences.

    This is Mike’s third year volunteering for GovCamp Cymru. He loves being part of a passionate team of volunteers working to make a difference to public services. “I don’t think people realise how much goes on behind the scenes to make events like this happen - but that’s what makes it so rewarding.”

    Mike moved to Pembrokeshire five years ago with his family. Life’s busy with three kids and a puppy, but they make the most of it with beach days, outdoor adventures and exploring all that this beautiful part of the world has to offer.
