We’re thrilled to welcome the NuroCove to GovCamp Cymru again this year - our calm, neuro-affirming space created by the brilliant Nurologik team.
Huge thanks to Alex Kegie, Founder of Nurologik. She doesn’t just bring the NuroCove to life - she’s a valued part of our organising crew, helping to make GovCamp Cymru welcoming, inclusive and accessible every single year.
What is the NuroCove?
The NuroCove is a quiet, sensory-friendly space where anyone can take a break during the day. You don’t need to explain why.
The space is open all day and there’s no need to book. If you need help finding it, just ask a campmaker in a green T-shirt.
Trained NuroCove hosts will be available if you’d like someone to talk to or need support. Their training covers Mental Health First Aid, Neurodivergent Mental Health First Aid and safeguarding.
Communication preference stickers
Nurologik will provide four bilingual stickers to help you let others know how you’d prefer to communicate:
I don’t want to talk right now, or find speaking difficult.
I’d prefer to talk with people I already know.
I’d like to talk, but may need you to start the conversation.
I’m happy to talk with anyone.
Starting a conversation can be difficult, even when you’d like to join in. The third sticker lets others know you’d welcome them making the first move.
Everyone will be offered a full set of stickers, and you can change yours at any point during the day.
Please respect people’s choices. If someone’s sticker says they don’t want to talk, give them space without asking them to explain.
